Diversify education. Reimagine success.

Children deserve to be mirrored in their classrooms.

Mirrors in Education provides resources, community, and professional development to educators of color to facilitate their recruitment and retention within Pennsylvania public school districts with low minority educator representation.

Mirrors in Educations is a non-profit project fiscally sponsored by FNC Philly.

Project M.E. and Project M.E.²

Project M.E. and Project M.E.² recruit and retain BIPOC educators in Pennsylvania school districts with less than 2% minority educator representation. MIE supports the projects’ residents - through mentoring, professional development and peer support - to build relationships and become rooted in their community.

Application deadline for the 2022-23 school year is June 30.

Professional Development for Teachers of Color

Our Professional Development program offers training for educators of color delivered by BIPOC educators, consultants, and otherwise credentialed professionals. Topics include team building, contracts, career mapping, conflict management, inclusive classrooms, and culturally relevant pedagogy.

“My eldest daughter (age 13) will have her first Black teacher this year, and she is already talking about it with excitement and with a newfound desire to do well academically simply because he is Black–this means the world to her.”

— Krista Mallot, MIE Board Member
